1926 German Wood Turning Video
This is a fascinating video from 1926 of a German wood turner. It shows him picking out a log, using a bandsaw to make a bowl blank, sharpening his tools, mounting the piece on a pulley-turned lathe, and then making and sanding a lidded bowl. It is amazing that the basic techniques have remained the same over the last hundred years. The phrase “Der Drechsler” means “The Turner” and the phrase “Naturfilm Hubert Schonger” refers to the film production company of the German film producer Hubert Schonger.
