Big Leaf Maple Burl box with Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry) insert and Padauk top.

Insert sits 2 in. above bottom for a hidden compartment. The insert including the center post is made from a single piece of wood (not glued in). Yep, held my breath turning that post in that small space. Insert lined with black felt.

6 1/2 in height, 4 5/8 in diameter.

This star shaped Ambrosia Maple lidded box is about six inches across and it’s scalloped rim is gilded with Gold leaf. It’s finial is turned from Crape Myrtle from our garden, and I found that Crape Myrtle turns very nicely to make finials from. This piece is finished with gloss. The overall design of the piece is copied from a Cindy Drozda lidded star box.

The description should say it’s finished with gloss lacquer.
