After turning a blank on my Excelsior mini lathe I can't seem to remove the chuck from the headstock. Seems to be stuck solidly. Does anyone have suggestions?
@edgoodfellowyahoo-com Common problem, we've all had it happen. You might want to look at these threads on the Facebook woodturning group. You have to join to see it, but lots of good info from the 46,000 members. One suggestion for the future is to put on a washer that fits over your spindle before screwing on the chuck. It will help prevent this in the future.
Had my chuck stuck locked jaws on a wrench used spindle wrench to hold in place then good whack on the wrench held in chuck with hammer the metal to metal vibrations shock it loose. Got it from a good YouTube video.
