We are involved in our community by supporting local charities and bring together a community of woodturners.
Empty Bowls: DAW participates with local potters to supply bowls for a fund-raiser benefiting the North Texas Food Bank each year. Attendees get gourmet soups and deserts from well-known local restaurants and a bowl to take home.
Beads of Courage: Our members turn lidded boxes that are donated to hospitals that are treating sick children with cancer, heart, blood, and other serious diseases. These kids receive a special bead for each procedure they endure. They store their beads in these elaborate boxes which they treat as treasure chests.
American Association of Woodturners (AAW): DAW is a member of this national woodturning organization and encourages each member to join AAW. The AAW conducts a national symposium each year and publishes a bimonthly journal. There is a variety of books, videos, and merchandise available on its web site: www.woodturner.org.
Southwest Association of Turners (SWAT): SWAT is an association representing woodturners from Texas and surrounding states. It holds a regional symposium in late August each year that is second in size only to the annual symposium of the AAW. The SWAT Website is www.swaturners.org. The symposiums are currently held in Waco Texas.
Club Website: Monthly newsletters are posted on our site along with other club information. Member gallery pages provide a place for pictures of favorite pieces and turning-related items. Club officer contact information is also posted on the Website. www.dallaswoodturners.com
